SPIDER-MAN 4 delay leads to release shifts for THOR and PIRATES 4

Now that Spider-Man 4 is officially delayed, with DHD even reporting that the VFX team involved was instructed to look for other work, two major releases have shifted their 2011 releases to fill the void.

Thor, one of Marvel’s in-house production, will slip into Spidey’s place, coming out on May 6, 2011, instead of May 20.  And taking Thor‘s spot? Captain Jack Sparrow. In the wake Spider-Man 4‘s delay, Disney has given May 20, 2011, as the official release date of the fourth Pirates movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. (via THR)

Even if Spider-Man 4 works out all of its script problems, there are not many places for Spider-Man 4 to move. Maybe June 10, 2011, a week ahead of The Green Lantern‘s scheduled release? The holiday season is even more packed than summer 2011, so that might not be an option either. Of course, if The Hobbit has to shift out of its scheduled December 2011 release, we could have a very Spidey Christmas.
