What’s a “MacGuffin”? Well, it’s simply an empty object that moves a plot forward. You may have seen the word dropped in espionage film reviews or thrillers. But I don’t think anyone could describe a “MacGuffin” better than the man behind some of the best thrillers of all-time, Alfred Hitchcock.

Animator Isaac Niemand took an Hitchcock’s 1972 interview with Dick Cavett where he explains this device, animated it and set it to the¬†Vertigo¬†theme to produced this gem for hardcore cinephiles. Take a look:
