Rian Johnson Is The Latest Boring White Guy To Get A STAR WARS Gig

Posted by on Jun 22, 2014 in The Pictures | 0 comments

Because what Star Wars needed is another boring white guy in charge of franchise movies, Disney has hired Rian Johnson, director of two okay films like (Brick and Looper) and one bad one (The Brothers Bloom), to take the reigns of the sequel trilogy after J.J. Abrams finishes the relaunch with Star Wars VII. According to Deadline, Johnson is set take on the major task of writing and directing Star Wars VIII and IX, which will conclude the new trilogy.   I’m happy for Rian. He’s worked hard for this even if I don’t love his movies. I think he’s a great writer, but his direction has always felt underwhelming, even lazy. Like Josh Trank and Gareth Edwards (two other white guys who’ve joined the Star Wars universe as directors of stand-alone features), his films don’t have the energy that we’ve come to expect from our blockbusters. Still, we know what we’re getting...

Will We See THE BATMAN In 2019?

Posted by on Jun 22, 2014 in Big News, The Pictures | 1 comment

When the supposed Warner Bros./DC Comics  film slate through 2018 hit the internet last week, there was one burning question: What about a stand-alone Batman movie? Wonder Woman will finally get her movie. We’re getting a sequel to Man of Steel. Plus, there’s a Green Lantern/Flash team-up in the mix. But noticeably absent from the list was the first Batfleck flick. Given the overly enthusiastic response to Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy, it makes sense that WB/DC would let the new Batman take hold in a series of DCCU movies before launching a new Batman series. Still, it has to be in the works, right? Right. According to Latino Review, WB/DC are planning Batfleck’s stand-alone movie for 2019, with the current working title of The Batman. It’s just a rumor of course, but it stands to reason that more than 10 years after the...

Jason Momoa Is Aquaman in BATMAN V SUPERMAN

Posted by on Jun 15, 2014 in The Pictures | 2 comments

Back in December, word got out that Games of Thrones star Jason Momoa was in talks for an undisclosed role in the upcoming sequel to Man of Steel/prequel to Justice League, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Today, we know who Momoa will play, thanks to the good folks over at HitFix. Momoa will a small role as Aquaman in Dawn of Justice, leading to a bigger role in Justice League. According to HitFix, Aquaman is none too happy with the destruction Zod caused in the Indian Ocean, and will make that known in his cameo, with much of the film being concerned with the aftermath of the attack. Of course, we’ve joked about BvS sounding like a court case here before, but it certainly sounds like Superman will be on trial, at least in the court of public opinion. That’s not shocking, given David Goyer’s lazy cherrypicking from Superman: Earth...

First Pics From JURASSIC WORLD Contain No Dinos, One Movie Star

Man, look at Chris Pratt. If seeing him in the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer wasn’t enough to convince you that he’s a movie star, that single pose from Jurassic World certainly makes it so. Dear Disney, if you need a young Han Solo or Indiana Jones, he’s your man. ANYWAY, nothing much to see honestly. No dinos, but watching Pratt transform from a sitcom actor to a full-fledged movie star is exciting. So at least we got that going for us. Enjoy! Source: The...

DC’s continued effort to create a cinematic universe that can rival Marvel‘s may have it’s problems, but apparently ambition isn’t one of them. According to Nikki Finke, formerly of Deadline infamy, Warner Bros. and DC are planning a major launch for the DCCU at next month’s Comic Con. That plan looks to include seven films in the next three years, including the long-speculated Justice League film, as well as Wonder Woman and a Flash/Green Lantern picture. Here’s what the schedule looks like: May 2016 – Batman v Superman July 2016 – Shazam Xmas 2016 – Sandman May 2017 – Justice League July 2017 – Wonder Woman Xmas 2017 – Flash and Green Lantern team-up May 2018 – Man Of Steel 2 If this turns out to be true, and knowing it’s coming from Nikki makes me believe it so, then Kevin Tsujihara at WB is really, really pulling out...

Behold The Amazingness Of The Rocket Raccoon & Groot GUARDIANS Poster

While we try and forget the whole ugly Ant-Man saga, let’s focus our attention on what really matters: Marvel gave Slither‘s James Gunn a movie and it has a giant tree man and a talking raccoon in it. Pretty bad ass, huh?  Source:...
