Breaking Bad is already considered one of the greatest shows currently on television — and one of the greatest shows in the history of television so far — then you can’t wait for the mid-Aug premiere date to access the show through GetDirectTV.org or your cable or satellite provider. These final eight episodes will close out the fifth and final season of the incredible series, with a two-hour series finale. The Evolution of the Series The series has become one of the best because of the evolution of Walter White, a push-over chemistry teacher who lives in Albuquerque. He has a pregnant wife, a disabled son and a teaching job that doesn’t pay him very well, forcing him to work part time at a...

Sherlock’s New Nemesis Revealed! Who Is It?

Posted by on Jul 31, 2013 in The Tube | 0 comments

Despite Benedict Cumberbatch being one of the hottest actors in Hollywood right now (he’s involved in no less than three big Oscar contenders this year, in addition to his role as Khan in Star Trek Into Darkness) and Martin Freeman being busy with The Hobbit franchise, the BBC has managed to get the pair back for a third season Sherlock.  For two seasons, Holmes and Watson have squared off against Moriarty in the cult TV show which sets the adventures in contemporary London. But Sherlock will have a new nemesis in season three: Charles Augustus Magnussen. The news was announced on Twitter last night by Sherlock producer Sue Vertue, who also revealed that Mangussen will be played by the Danish actor and star of the original The Killing series Lars Mikkelsen. But who is Magnussen? Well, given the character’s first and middle names he’s almost surely Charles Augustus...

Harvey Weinstein and Disney are inexplicably (okay, well, for money) teaming up for an adaptation of the best-selling children’s book series Artemis Fowl. Author Eion Colfer has described the book as “Die Hard” with fairies. We’ll see if that spirit can be brought to the big screen when Harry Potter screenwriter Michael Goldenberg writes the script. (ScreenRant) In other book adaptation news, Sony has won a bidding war with rival studios for the rights to Thomas Sweterlitsch’s sci-fi novel Tomorrow and Tomorrow. The book takes place 10 years after the destruction of Pittsburgh, following one of the survivors who discovers a cover-up around the city’s fall.  Noah Oppenheim will write the screenplay. (The Wrap) Paul Schrader says he wants to write a Clarence Thomas biopic for Spike Lee. (The Playlist) Sherlock Holmes may soon enter the public domain. (THR) The Butler star David Oyelowo has join the...

THE FLASH Set To Become A CW Series?

Posted by on Jul 30, 2013 in Big News, The Tube | 1 comment

While the folks over at Warner Bros. are struggling to get the big screen DC Universe right, the CW and Warner Bros. Television seem to know exactly what they’re doing. The breakout success of Arrow, which is probably the best live-action DC adaptation since Batman Begins, has inspired WBTV and the CW to launch the Flash on that series in preparation for a show of his own. According to Deadline, the plan is to introduce Barry Allen, the scientist who becomes the Flash after a lightning/chemical cocktail, as a recurring character on Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg’s Arrow, then eventually spin him off on his own show. Director David Nutter, who helmed Arrow‘s pilot along with episodes of Game of Thrones and The X-Files, is set to return as well. So why is this good news, considering DC just announced a Flash movie as part of...

Homeland season one was spectacular, on par with some of TV’s best shows. But we expect good TV theses days. That it was from Showtime made it surprising.
