PARTY DOWN movie to shoot next summer?
It wasn’t long ago that I Tweeted with a few people that Party Down would likely get a movie before Arrested Development. Part of that was just out of frustration. We’ve been talking about a Bluth family adventure on the big screen since the show was cancelled. Of course, I also just wanted a Party Down movie more. The timing is better, with the show still fresh (and available on Netflix Instant if you haven’t seen it). Plus, you don’t have to worry about Martin Starr being a Michael Cera-style diva.
Now Party Down star Adam Scott is saying that the film continuation is likely to shoot next summer:
Scott said, “We’re like 90% there, we’re hoping to do it maybe next summer, if everyone’s schedules work out and the guys get time to write a script,” he told us. “They have kind of a skeleton of a story worked out so we know where it’s going to go but we just have to kind of cross the t’s and dot the i’s, or something. But Starz are being super cool and they’re going to let us do it, and we’re all excited, we all want to do it.”
Starz is being super cool? While The Playlist is a little more skeptical about that comment, you have to imagine that dealing with Starz is less… daunting… than dealing with Fox TV. If this movie actually happens you can mark it down as another win for cable over broadcast.
